Parveen Shakir

Parveen Shakir was a prominent poet from Pakistan. She was born in 1952 in Karachi. She was a Civil servant also. Parveen started writing poetry at a very young age. Her first book was published in 1976 after she joined Civil service. She served in Federal Board of Revenue as second secretary. Her writing basically revolves around love and she has written either Ghazals or free style. She has introduced female as a soft, loving and romantic. Her tremendous contribution to urdu ghazal was acknowledged and she was awarded Pride of Performance award.
