Anwar Masood

Anwar Masood is a Pakistani Urdu poet, humorist, and columnist. He was born in 1933 in a village near Gujrat, Punjab. He received his early education in his hometown and later went to Lahore for further studies. Masood started writing poetry at a young age and began publishing his work in various newspapers and magazines during his college days. He is known for his humorous and satirical poems. He has published several books of poetry, including “Mashoor Shayari“ (Famous Poetry), “Bharat Se Pyar“ (Love From India), and “Dardmandi“ (Sadness). Masood also wrote columns in various newspapers and magazines, including Jang, Daily Nawa–i–Waqt, and Khabrain. He was awarded the Pride of Performance Award by the Government of Pakistan in 1980. In addition to writing poetry and columns, Masood is also a painter and has held several exhibitions in Pakistan and abroad. In 2003, he was awarded the Sitara–e–Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan. Masood is a beloved figure in Pakistan and his poetry is widely appreciated by people from all walks of life. He is considered one of the most influential Urdu poets of modern times.
