Mohsin Naqvi

Mohsin Naqvi (19521996) was a Pakistani poet who wrote mainly in Urdu. Naqvi was born in 1952 in the city of Sahiwal in Pakistan. He earned an MA and a PhD from the University of Punjab. His studies included Urdu literature and Persian poetry. Naqvi is considered to be one of the most influential poets in the Urdu language. His poetry focused on the themes of love, beauty, and the human condition. He was known for his simple and direct language. Naqvi wrote many books of poetry and was also a prolific translator, translating works from Persian and Arabic into Urdu. He was a member of the Pakistan Academy of Letters and the Pakistan Writers Guild. Naqvi passed away in 1996 due to a heart attack. His death was mourned by many, including the president of Pakistan at the time, Farooq Leghari. Naqvis works are still widely read and appreciated today. His legacy lives on in his poetry and his translations.
